Journeyman Electrician

Reports To:      Maintenance Superintendent

Salary/Wage:   $40.00 – $44.00 Hourly

Summary:  This position will be part of the maintenance department and assist in the overall repair and upkeep of Zip-O-Log Mills, Inc.’s facilities, equipment and machinery.  This position will be responsible to install, monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical systems.  Effective communication with maintenance personnel and supervisors to perform electrical maintenance duties safely and efficiently is must.  This position will also assist with mechanical maintenance functions as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.
  • Wear appropriate PPE.
  • Install and repair electrical wirings, systems, and fixtures.
  • Install conduits and pipes for wires and cables.
  • Ensure piping complies with code.
  • Make proper repairs and corrections.
  • Test electrical components to ensure proper installation.
  • Operate proper hand tools and testing devices.
  • Use ladders when necessary.
  • Adhere to Oregon OSHA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and understand electrical control equipment including PLCs.
  • Effectively read schematics/voltage, meters/amp, and meters/meg motor.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Be a Journeyman Licensed Electrician.
  • Familiarity with wood products manufacturing equipment and environments.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must have minimum 1-year electrical experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 480v and low voltage electrical systems, AC and DC.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to exercise logical problem-solving skills and react appropriately in upset situations.
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problems solving skills.
  • Must be dedicated and self-motivated to work independently, yet also be willing and able to work as a team.
  • Must be available to work shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime.
  • Proficient electrical knowledge of National Electric Code and local codes is a must.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
